The new Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation stands apart from and stitches together the museum’s four-block campus on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Situated on a natural promontory, the contemporary Los Angeles dwelling boasts expansive views of Silver Lake Reservoir and San Gabriel Mountains.
Rounding out the design team for the $700 million campus is Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architecture, Buro Happold, and Langan Engineering.
The wood-framed, Y-shaped residence takes inspiration from the island-dotted landscape of southern Finland.
