Alex Jones Might Just Make An Appearance In The Georgia Election Interference Trial

Part one of the Georgia election interference trial is scheduled to start later this month. You’ll recall of the 19 people charged in the case — the most prominent of which is, of course, former president Donald Trump — two have elected to exercise their right to a speedy trial. Accordingly, the trials of Sidney Powell and Kenneth Cheseboro have been severed from the rest of the defendants, and will start on October 23rd.

As such, yesterday the prosecution filed a motion identifying potential witnesses in the case. On that list? Noted InfoWars host, conspiracy theorist — and terrible witness — Alex Jones. As reported by Law360, prosecutors argue Jones’s testimony is related to Chesebro’s involvement in the election scheme:

According to the filing, Chesebro is shown on video marching alongside Jones at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in “an attempt to disrupt and delay” the joint session of Congress and the certification of the presidential electoral count.

Prosecutors said Jones could also testify about communications between himself, Chesebro and others involved in the “multi-state, coordinated efforts to influence the results” of the 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.

Other potential witnesses identified by the prosecution are former chair of the Wisconsin Republican Party Andrew Hitt and Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel.

Chesebro (and Powell) are charged under the state’s anti-racketeering law for trying to overturn the election results in Georgia. Chesebro is accused of coordinating the slate of false electors that were ready to swear (inaccurately) that Donald Trump won the 2020 election, a plot he helpfully wrote out in memo form. Powell is accused of trying to alter election equipment in Coffee County.

450 people are currently scheduled to report to the Fulton County courthouse on October 20th to begin the process of jury selection. Fun!
