Alleged Bad Boy Loses Business Deals Over Criminal Charges

// If you haven’t been living under a rock, you know that Sean Combs faces some serious legal trouble these days. Like, the Feds leading a coordinated raid on several of your homes at once sort of legal trouble — the State takes accusations of sexual trafficking seriously. As expected, association with such serious crimes can be a massive blow for one’s book of business. The Root began a compilation of Diddy’s business dealings that have been cut loose, here is a short list:

• Macy’s
• House of Takura
• Rebecca Allen
• Diageo

As easy as it would be to chock up the business decisions to Diddy’s trafficking accusations, the waters were troubled prior to the feds raiding his homes. As bad as the optics are for having a school associate with someone accused of sex trafficking, the ball was dropped with Capital Prep years earlier. The school faced a high turnover rate, bed bugs, and violence — all things worth considering a change in leadership. Not to mention the deal with Macy’s. When’s the last time you’ve seen anybody wearing Sean Jean? Unless you planned on going to a roaring 2000’s skating party, the brand is a bit dated.

While you were a lot more likely to find people showing off Ciroc and DeLeon on their highlight reels, there were two other issues worth factoring in on why the business relationship went sour. Most significant is probably Diddy’s accusation that Diageo wasn’t marketing his product to his liking because of racism. True or not, the threat of legal trouble put all parties involved on eggshells. The second is that there is a great deal of other celebrity backed booze in the market — between Don Julio, D’usse and 50 Cent’s shenanigans, the motivation to pop bottles of Diddy Juice got watered down by the market.

In Mo’ Money Mo Problems, Diddy foretold that 10 years from later, Bad Boy Records would still be on top. And while that may have been true for 2007, times have changed. As evidence mounts and more people come forward, the CEO of Bad Boy will likely be moving over for a different Rap Mogul. Given his massive success my meager coins are betting on Drake. That said, he too may have his fair share of potential legal troubles and PR hits by way of rap beef on the horizon.
