Amid Fallout From Antisemitic Rants, George Floyd Conspiracy Theories, And More, Kanye West Turns To Familiar Biglaw Face For Legal Help

Kanye West’s never been one to steer away from controversy, but lately it’s gotten even worse. He launched antisemitic attacks on social media that got him booted from Twitter, and teed up buying Parler. He spread vicious, unfounded rumors that it wasn’t former police officer Derek Chauvin that caused George Floyd’s death but rather fentanyl — and as a result is facing a $250 million lawsuit. He wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt to his Yeezy fashion show. He’s been dropped by Balenciaga and his Adidas contract is “under review.”

As such, TMZ is reporting Ye hired a Biglaw firm to represent his “business interests.” He’ll be working with Brown Rudnick and specifically partner Camille Vasquez. Vasquez’s rising legal star recently translated to pop culture relevance during her successful representation of Johnny Depp in his defamation case against Amber Heard.

While Vasquez will potentially be involved in a variety of mounting Ye legal troubles, one court battle she’s staying out of is his custody case. The rapper recently hired Robert Cohen — who represented Melinda Gates in her divorce from Bill Gates — and Nicholas Salick in his ongoing dispute with ex-wife Kim Kardashian. This is Ye’s sixth set of attorneys in his family law case.
We’ll see if Vasquez has more lasting power as Ye’s attorney.
