Amy Covid Barrett Back At It With Maskless Event

Remember how, in the immediate aftermath of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death and with a pandemic swirling, then-president Donald Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court? And remember how as part of the victory lap for grabbing yet another Supreme Court seat (after doing the exact opposite when Justice Scalia died), the GOP held a congratulatory Covid superspreader event in soon-to-be-Justice Barrett’s honor? And we deemed her Amy Covid Barrett because it was the only petty joy we could squeeze from what we knew would be the death knell for reproductive freedom?

Yeah, well, it seems like Justice Barrett has learned nothing from that event and is back at it, tempting the cruel mistress Covid once again. Barrett appeared at an event at her former elementary school, St. Catherine of Siena School in Metairie, Louisiana — in front of an audience of 650 (mostly children) without a mask. No pictures were snapped of her in a mask. Not while telling kids to study hard and follow their dreams, not during photo ops, not while blowing out the candles on a cake to celebrate her upcoming 50th birthday (she’s going to be on the Court for forever, isn’t she?).

Pictures of the event were posted to the Clarion Herald‘s Facebook page, as you can see below.

It’s worth noting that in Louisiana, only 3 percent of children ages 5-11 — you know, elementary school age — are vaccinated against Covid. And none of the adults seem to be capable of the slightest inconvenience to protect the children. I know we are too far gone in our hellscape reality, but it’s still baffling to me that basic health measures have been politicized. Wear a damn mask, people. It’s not that hard.
