Biglaw Firm To Make ‘Bring Your Dog To Work Day’ Permanent For Health & Wellness Purposes

No, those aren’t commands from partners, but associates at his Biglaw firm may get used to hearing them a lot more often now that “Bring Your Dog to Work Day” will be a monthly health and wellness feature. Because after all, life in Biglaw can be pretty rrrruff!

Magic Circle firm Slaughter & May allowed lawyers and staff members to bring their dogs to work on a trial basis this past June, and the program was so successful that dogs will be allowed to come to work once every month.

“I have long been an advocate of having our dogs in the office,” Slaughters’ managing partner Deborah Finkler said at the time of the trial. “The benefits of all animals and especially dogs to mental health, morale and alleviating stress are widely recognised.”

We bet Slaughter & May associates are howling with excitement.

As reported by Legal Cheek, Slaughter isn’t the only firm that allows dogs to come to work as an associate wellness perk — Gowling WLG, Norton Rose Fulbright, and Eversheds Sutherland have launched similar programs.

Are any Biglaw firms in the US using pets as a perk, or would they be barking up the wrong tree to even suggest such a thing? All we know is that we think programs like these are paws-itively delightful. Hopefully more firms will throw associates a bone and let them bring their pets to work.
