Biglaw Raises Are Coming To The West Coast

// The latest bump in Biglaw compensation was initiated by New York-based firms (Milbank and Cravath) but they will indeed be making their way out west.

West Coast mainstay Fenwick and West has responded to the raises sweeping through Biglaw in the best way possible — by matching them. The firm, which made $750,435,000 gross revenue in 2022, making it 66th on the Am Law 100, announced raises yesterday on the following scale:

They also delighted associates with year-end bonuses, according to the following grid:

Bonuses, which will be paid on December 29th, will be awarded to associates that billed 1,950 credited hours. High billers — 2,100+ hours — are also eligible for the firm’s Rest, Recreation, and Relaxation program which ranges in value from $3,000 to $12,000. Additionally, associates that make “extraordinary” contributions to the firm are rewarded with time in a firm condo — locations in Hawaii and St. Thomas.
