The covers of American ELLE just don’t hit like they once did. After all, not even covers starring the likes of Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner, Lisa (of Blackpink), HoYeon Jung, Anya Taylor-Joy, or Zoë Kravitz have managed to impress over recent months. This month, Nina Garcia (who has served as editor-in-chief since 2017) welcomes Daisy Edgar-Jones onto the cover of ELLE for April 2025. The English actress makes her ELLE cover debut via the lens of photographer Dan Martensen. Daisy gazes down Martensen’s lens in the cover photograph, captured lying on a bed and wearing a Cou Cou Intimates top and a cape from the Chanel Spring 2025 collection (as selected for the occasion by cover shoot stylist Clare Richardson).

“Did they change the water supply in their office? ELLE‘s recent covers have declined in quality this year,” chimed in crmsn.

“Not a great cover. Too dark. Who chose this?” asked forum member rockmuse1969.

Vogue28 wasn’t exactly thrilled with the end result either. “Nina Garcia’s ELLE has fallen (extremely) short over recent months – this cover included. Not quite sure who to blame but everything has just been a complete non-event, and a far cry from what the magazine has delivered previously. The spark and excitement has completely evaporated for me, personally,” he voiced.

“Too dreamy for my taste. This magazine needs to take a few steps towards becoming more commercial again,” matheus_s pointed out.
