It would appear that the coast has been calling to Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo. The star of the mega successful ABC show and her family’s primary residence is an inland estate in East Los Angeles’s Los Feliz neighborhood, but Dirt reveals that they’re putting more roots down along the Pacific Ocean. The actor and her husband, Chris Ivery, have reportedly purchased a second Malibu home, right next door to the beach house they bought in 2013.

That first beach house was purchased from Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman for $6.365 million, and has an impressive architectural pedigree, as it was designed by iconic midcentury modern California architects Buff and Hensman. As the newly purchased home was bought off market there are few concrete details available about its style, though it was reportedly built in 1980. The deal leaves Pompeo with 1.67 contiguous acres of land and between the two structures. Her new pad had five bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.

There’s no doubt Pompeo and Ivery will put their spin on the spot, possibly with celebrity interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard who they’ve collaborated with on numerous spaces in the past, including the aforementioned Los Feliz home which AD toured in 2014. "My goal is to find inspiration everywhere. Many of the rooms pay homage to the fashion world, but I’m also inspired by great hotels," Pompeo explained to AD that same year, going onto reveal one of the most playful (and personal) details of the East L.A. space: “We took the colors of the mosaic-tile floors from my toy poodles, Gigi and Valentino.”
