Vogue and The Metropolitan Museum of Art are getting us hyped for May 2027. The pair announced the 2027 Met Gala theme for the Spring 2027 exhibit. Drum roll, please… for: “John Galliano: Horizons.”

Celebrating the four-decade career of the British fashion designer, the exhibit (curated by Andrew Bolton) will draw extensively from the museum’s own considerable holdings, including pieces from Galliano’s breakout 1984 Central Saint Martins graduation collection, “Les Incroyables”. Andrew Bolton will divide the exhibit into three parts. “Bearings,” “Horizons,” and “Atlas of Transformation”, the latter will address the controversies and public arc of his career. “There is no one more deserving of an exhibition of this scale than John Galliano,” said Anna Wintour.

Only two other living designers have been the subject of an exhibition at The Met. The first was Yves Saint Laurent in 1983, organised by Diana Vreeland, and the second was Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons in 2017.

The “John Galliano: Horizons” exhibit will run from May 9, 2027, until January 9, 2028. The 2027 Met Gala event will take place on May 3, 2027.

Official co-chairs, host committee members, and the precise red-carpet dress code have not yet been announced.
