Ginni Thomas’s Jan. 6th Committee Testimony Paints A Bleak View Of Marriage And That’s Not Even The Most Shocking Part

Picture it: your friend is super passionate about her job. She’s committed to the cause and has basically made it her entire personality. Anyway, she’s chatting about her relationship with her significant other and she says that the significant other is “uninterested” in their work and that “I generally do not discuss” this oh-so-important work with their spouse. Then they put a bow on this disturbing conversation with an off-base reference to girl power. Would you smile and accept her story, or would you subtly try to steer her towards some couples counseling?

Anyway, in unrelated news, we have a few details from the testimony of Ginni Thomas — wife of Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas — before the January 6th Committee. She was called before the Committee because she was like the Forest Gump of election lie peddlers: sending a series of text messages to Mark Meadows, Trump’s Chief of Staff; blasting emails to Arizona representatives, begging them to overturn the results of the election; communicating with Coups 4 Dummies lawyer John Eastman; and pestering Wisconsin lawmakers over the election.

Here’s what we know about Ginni’s opening statement:

She said she did not speak “at all about the details of my volunteer campaign activities” and that “I did not speak with him at all about the details of my post election activities, which were minimal” she added “he was completely unaware” of my texts with Mark Meadows 2/4

“Strong character traits of independence and integrity” also she nodded to Justice Breyer’s recent interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace: “As Justice Breyer said last week, it is 2022 and women can have professional and separate careers from their judicial spouses. “ 4/4

She also told the Committee, “I generally do not discuss with him my day-to-day work in politics, the topics I am working on, who I am calling, emailing, texting, or meeting.” I suppose it’s pure coincidence that Clarence Thomas has to adjudicate all manner of controversies that intersect with his wife’s interests. For example, she led a grassroots movement in support of Trump’s travel ban, worked for right-wing think tanks, and has led efforts to defeat the Affordable Care Act (plus all the above detailed work Ginni did to try and overturn the results of the 2020 election, but don’t worry, Clarence Thomas still heard a case about the January 6th committee — and shockingly! — he was the lone dissent when the Court rejected Trump’s efforts to block the release of presidential records to the committee). And if the Thomas household just happens to make ~$700,000 in income for Ginni’s advocacy work that — oopsie! — Clarence forgets to report on disclosure documents, well, what can be done?

But here’s how we know this is a little questionable. Remember how Ginni Thomas hired a rather infamous staffer, Crystal Clanton? (Clanton was forced out of the far-right Turning Point USA after allegations of using racist language became public.) Anyway, this person who worked with Ginni in her “day-to-day work in politics” bragged about spending weekends with both Thomases. Not quite the separation of church and state that Ginni was trying to sell during her testimony.

Plus we know Ginni’s in contact with a list of Thomas clerks. She’s written to this email list of former clerks, “I have likely imposed on you my lifetime passions.” So we’re to believe she’s imposed her “lifetime passions” on folks who work with her husband, but not her husband? Again, this stretches credulity.

But all this may not even be the most shocking revelation from Ginni’s testimony. Because it’s time for everyone’s favorite game: is she an idiot or just committed to the bit? Cause, yeah, Ginni is ALL IN on the lie that the 2020 election was for real and for true stolen from Donald Trump.

BREAKING: Rep. Benny Thompson said that Ginni Thomas told the J6 Committee she STILL believes the 2020 election was stolen.

Un-fucking-believable.

To be clear, TRUMP’S OWN KIDS have given up this ghost.
