Inside the Swanky New Bar at the Pendry Manhattan West Hotel

And so it goes that on an unlikely stretch of West 33rd Street, opposite a ramp to the Lincoln tunnel, past the rippling glass façade of a new tower by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, revelers can now cozy up in an oasis of glamour. Designed by AD100 firm Gachot as part of the recently unveiled Pendry Manhattan West hotel, the intimate evening bar features a site-specific installation by Nancy Lorenz, whose swirling patterns of gold leaf, mother-of-pearl, and lacquer reflect lighting by Hervé Descottes of L’Observatoire International. “Our favorite bars have a jewel-box quality to them—intimate, glowing, luxe,” says Christine Gachot, who favors the margarita.
