The sleeper hit of 2021 is officially coming back to television screens, but The White Lotus season two will not take place at the Hawaiian resort where Murray Bartlett’s character Armond catered to self-centered guests played by Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, and Jake Lacy. Citing anonymous sources, Variety reports that season two will be set in Sicily and will film at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in the town of Taormina.

Both HBO and the Four Seasons declined to comment on the report when asked by AD, but if true, San Domenico Palace will make for an idyllic backdrop for the dark comedy, just as the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea did the first time around. The hotel only opened as a Four Seasons in July of 2021 but has a rich history dating back to the 15th century, when a religious convent was established on the site. The building became a hotel in the late 19th century after a Liberty-style (often referred to as Italian Art Nouveau) wing was added. Currently, the hotel is closed for the season, with its website stating that it will reopen on April 1, 2022.

Today, frescoes and other relics from the convent still remain, but there are plenty of modern amenities such as a gym, three restaurants, an infinity pool overlooking the Ionian Sea, and, of course, a spa, which is likely to appear on screen if Jennifer Coolidge reprises her role as Tanya McQuoid.

So far, her rumored return has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety but has not been officially confirmed by HBO. What the network did confirm is the other star players joining the show, which is written and directed by Mike White: The Sopranos alumnus Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Tom Hollander, and Haley Lu Richardson are all set to check in.
