Marjorie Taylor Green Will Be On The Ballot. What Would A Vote For Her Represent?

We mentioned earlier that Marjorie Taylor Greene faced some ballot problems. The main issue was less getting the vote and more beating an insurrection charge. Somehow, the judge found that she did not contribute to the failed coup on Jan. 6th, 2021. Litigants planned to appeal the judge’s decision but have now gotten their answer… and it looks like MTG will be getting her way.
googletag.cmd.push( function() { // Enable lazy loading. googletag.pubads().enableLazyLoad({ renderMarginPercent: 150, mobileScaling: 2 }); // Display ad. googletag.display( "div-id-for-top-300x250" ); googletag.enableServices(); });A judge in Atlanta has rejected an appeal by a group of voters and affirmed the Georgia secretary of state’s decision that U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is eligible to run for reelection.
…
The challenge to Greene’s eligibility was based on a section of the 14th Amendment that says no one can serve in Congress “who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same…Beaudrot found that the voters hadn’t produced sufficient evidence that Greene’s actions before, during and after the Capitol siege encouraged and helped facilitate a violent attack on the U.S. government and democracy in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

Now that Rep. Green has the greenlight to go on with her campaign, I hope that she will do away with her prior… conduct and spread messages of peace and good tidings throughout her run.
I am being attacked by the godless left because I said I’m a proud Christian Nationalist.
These evil people are even calling me a Nazi because I proudly love my country and my God.
The left has shown us exactly who they are.
They hate America, they hate God, and they hate us.

That’s bleak. It makes sense though. A big selling point of the contemporary Republican party is that, despite their strong posturing, gun surplus, and the millions of dollars backing them, they get to constantly play the victim card. A couple folks who have read more than the SparkNotes of a history book have been very vocal about why open proclamations of Christian Nationalism should be read as a danger:

Marjorie Taylor Greene is attacking Rachel Maddow for “spreading lies” about her. Rachel aired a clip of Marge calling for “Christian Nationalism” — then Rachel aired an Anti-Semitic politician from the 1950s saying the same thing. Yep. Nazis like MTG hate when they get exposed.

She responded as one would expect. She doubled down.
In the late 1950’s Republican Gerald L. K. Smith formed the “America First” & “Christian Nationalism” movements. It was a white supremacy, anti Semitic movement.

googletag.cmd.push( function() { // Enable lazy loading. googletag.pubads().enableLazyLoad({ renderMarginPercent: 150, mobileScaling: 2 }); // Display ad. googletag.display( "div-id-for-bottom-300x250" ); googletag.enableServices(); });Recently, Republicans voted against a law that would root out White supremacists in the military and police departments. I would suggest that the next step would be to suggest Congress do the same for legislatures, but with MTG and others like her looking to be at the levers, I get the feeling my suggestions would lead to a very quick self investigation that turns up no reason for concern. Like how it goes down with police departments.
This is a lot to have on one’s plate. Dwindling faith in all branches of the government, rapidly spreading disinformation campaigns and a general distrust in the media, not to mention sizable contingents that think armed conflict is near. What can you do, really? It is hard to be politically conscious when you’ve got hours to bill. Gotta keep up the intensity, after all!
