MCA-Approved Cutting Boards
Fashion designer Duro Olowu curated the Museum of Contemporary Art’s buzzy new exhibition Seeing Chicago, which features some 360 pieces sourced from the city’s public and private collections. The exhibit also devotes a small area to Olowu’s own womenswear, which is best known for its unique fabrics and intricate patterns.
Alas, the fashion on display isn’t for sale. But. To complement the exhibition, the MCA Store (220 E. Chicago Ave., mcachicagostore.org) now has a section called Shop Duro Olowu. Designed exclusively for the museum store, pieces include a tote bag ($235, available in store only), scarf ($198) and placemats ($28 apiece) in a black, yellow, and white textile pattern. The shop also sells various items including tea towels, cutting boards, coasters, and trays. The exhibition runs through May 10.
Top Sales of the WeekJayson Home (1885 N. Clybourn Ave., jaysonhome.com) is holding its Upholstery Sale through April 6. The event takes 20 percent off all leather furniture, as well as custom upholstery orders. Discounts apply to sofas, stools, ottomans, beds, benches, and other items.
Gallery Aesthete’s (1751 W. Division St., galleryaesthete.com) runs through March 14. Taking place in store only, the sale shaves up to 80 percent off select styles. The boutique specializes in high-end, avant-garde fashion, and stocks styles from Issey Miyake, Rick Owens, and Comme des Garçons among other designers.
Pop-UpAfter partnering with Saks Fifth Avenue for a pop-up, Tory Burch is hosting another one at Nordstrom Oakbrook Center (10 Oakbrook Center Drive, Oak Brook, shop.nordstrom.com), this time for a new capsule collection. Available exclusively at Nordstrom stores and on its website, the 19-piece collection features handbags, sandals, and totes in a striped print from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection; prices range from $88 to $798. It’s all displayed in a pop-up setting inspired by Burch’s home in the West Indies, and decorated with island-style materials such as rattan, wicker, and rope.
Health & BeautyEquilibria (myeq.com), the Chicago-based CBD brand, has launched flavored daily drops. Available in yuzu, honey-lemon, and mint for $58 per bottle or $85 for a mini trio set, the drops are made with hemp-flower-oil concentrate that’s grown in Colorado. Brand reps recommend using the oil drops at night to promote relaxation before bed; they also say the product can increase focus and decrease tension during the day.
Elina Organics (100 E. Walton St. Suite #600E, elinaorganics.com), the holistic Gold Coast spa, is now offering the Super Oxygen Rejuvenating Facial. The 45-minute service ($150) uses a blend of organic phytonutrients, radio frequency, and organic skincare products to remove dead skin cells and brighten up your complexion. The service is also said to refresh skin’s texture.
