We’re going to increase the chances of good outcomes for people who otherwise would not have gotten a law school opportunity.
— Aaron Taylor, executive director of AccessLex’s Center for Legal Education Excellence, commenting on the nonprofit’s new program that will ensure law school admission for would-be lawyers who have LSAT scores in the 25th percentile or lower who are from racial or ethnic groups that are underrepresented in law schools; are the first in their family to go to college; or have received federal need-based Pell grants as undergraduates. Thus far, 10 law schools have agreed to offer one-year deferred admission to AccessLex candidates who will complete a year-long program designed to improve their LSAT scores and provide them with foundational skills for law school. Participating law schools will offer candidates scholarships of at least 20% of the price of tuition.
