Prosecutors in Oklahoma are seeking the death penalty against a former criminal defense lawyer and her former client for allegedly murdering three people.
Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty against former Oklahoma City lawyer Keegan Kelley Harroz and her client-turned-boyfriend Barry Roland Titus II, report KFOR, Law & Crime and the Daily Mail. Some news stories have indicated that Harroz and Titus were married.
Harroz and Titus are accused of killing Titus’ ex-girlfriend and her parents in September 2019 at the home that they shared. Harroz had represented Titus when the ex-girlfriend accused Titus of threatening her, according to KFOR.
A bill of particulars in Harroz’s case said the murder of Titus’ former girlfriend, Tiffany Shannan Eichor, was “especially heinous, atrocious or cruel” because of physical abuse, torture and pain that she experienced before her death. She also suffered mental anguish as she heard intruders kill her parents, the court document said.
Eichor’s parents, Evelynn Kaye Chandler and Jack Randall Chandler, were murdered to avoid prosecution for the killing of their daughter, the bill of particulars alleged. In addition, Evelynn Kaye Chandler’s death was heinous, atrocious or cruel because of the mental anguish that she suffered while hiding in a closet, according to the court document.
A similar bill of particulars was filed in the case against Titus.
The couple have already been prosecuted on federal weapons charges.
Harroz was sentenced to two years in prison in March 2021 for illegally possessing a firearm in August 2019 while subject to a state-court victim protective order. Titus was sentenced to three years in prison in April 2021 for possessing a firearm while being a user of controlled substances.
