Chelsea Textiles Launches a New Line of Fabrics by Patrick Kinmonth

Widely recognized as a modern-day Renaissance man, Patrick Kinmonth has dabbled as a writer, interior designer, curator, and—perhaps most famously—a stage designer and director for opera and theater. A deep historical knowledge characterizes each of Kinmonth’s artistic undertakings. For his latest endeavor, the multi-hyphenate creative spent the course of two years developing a new line of fabrics and wallpapers with Chelsea Textiles. As of yesterday, the collection, which was inspired by Venetian damasks, is available to order. Kinmonth comments: “Our Venetian damask attempts to capture some of the subtle layers of poetry and history of a faded hanging on a palace wall, revealed by sunlight.”

Awards

Stanford White Awards Announce 10th Annual Winner in Virtual Ceremony

The annual Stanford White Awards, hosted by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, recognize outstanding talents each year in classical design across architecture, interiors, and landscapes. The 2021 awards took place on December 1, with a virtual celebration hosted by former AD editor and architectural journalist Mitchell Owens: “Every year, the Stanford White Awards prove that classicism is a living, vital, and elastic language, one that continues to inspire American architects, landscape designers, decorators, artists, and students,” Owens tells AD PRO. “All of them find sustenance in the classical vocabulary, diving deep and then surfacing with fresh interpretations and unexpected explorations, from Perry Guillot’s surrealistic garden on Long Island to Peter Pennoyer and Hyde Park Mouldings’ great suspended clock for the Moynihan Train Hall at Pennsylvania Station in New York City.” The full list of winners includes Greg Tankersley, Ferguson & Shamamian Architects, John B. Murray Architect LLC, Fairfax & Sammons Architects, Easton Architects, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Historical Concepts & Bryan Graybill, Hendricks Churchill, Perry Guillot Inc., Hollander Design Landscape Architects, Peter Pennoyer Architects, Hyde Park Mouldings, Leonard Porter Studio, and Joseph M. Faccibene.
