It’s safe to say that prolific television writer and producer Ryan Murphy is a fan of the Brentwood lifestyle. Eight years ago he purchased a mansion in the Los Angeles neighborhood for $9 million, then just last year he bought the house next door for $6.5 million. Now, the American Horror Story creator is putting down even more roots in the area. According to Dirt, he’s just bought a $7.2 million horse ranch that’s half a mile away from his other two Brentwood homes.

Murphy’s new space was built in 1977 and was designed by Cliff May, a 20th century architect who’s known for his work on ranch homes. After a renovation just last year, the 4,000 square foot four bedroom, four bathroom home is much more in line with contemporary styles, and even flaunts a brand new guest house. Along with the two dwelling structures, the property includes three horse stalls, should someone in the Murphy clan get the equestrian itch. (The Glee producer is married to photographer David Miller, and they share three sons.)

The main house’s common spaces are flooded with bright California sunshine, thanks to numerous skylights and oversized windows that are just shy of floor to ceiling. Outside, a built-in barbecue, pizza oven, prep space, and adjacent area for a dining set make it easy to enjoy a meal outside. Beyond the dining space, there’s plenty of room for outdoor lounging around a long rectangular fire pit, plus a pool and hot tub.

Thanks to the recent revamp, the home has a simple monochromatic palette, which certainly suits Murphy’s taste—he wrote about his relatively recent move to minimal color schemes for AD last year.
