Partners Suit against Williams & Connolly partner seeks nearly $7M in unpaid taxes

A U.S. government lawsuit contends that a Williams & Connolly partner and another person in his household owe $6.985 million in unpaid taxes.

The suit, filed in district court in the District of Columbia on Sept. 15 by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division, seeks payment from Williams & Connolly partner Robert J. Shaughnessy and Susan J. Shaughnessy, who is identified in the lawsuit as a person living in Shaughnessy’s home.

Law360 identified Susan Shaughnessy as Robert Shaughnessy’s wife.

Robert Shaughnessy is a civil litigator whose practice includes commercial torts, false advertising, contract disputes, class actions, trademarks, copyrights, product liability and environmental matters, according to his law firm bio.

He did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment by the ABA Journal.

Williams & Connolly also did not immediately reply to an email from the Journal.
