The video features a mix of Edelson talent and professional stage actors in Chicago. Edelson’s achieved some impressive claims rates over the years. Convincing folks to opt-in is a persistent challenge in the space, since most of us just throw away our class action notifications. Jay Edelson and Amy Hausmann have written before about the outside-the-box tactics lawyers can deploy to boost claims rates from “consulting behavioral psychology experts to design a claims process that maximizes claims rates” to “offering a variety of payment options for consumers” to ease the process.

Not sure the villains of this song deserve all the shade they get here. Getting money to a class is great, but if a class action exacts a price that successfully stops ACME from filling parachutes with silverware going forward, I’ll happily take my $2 coupon. Still, if everyone took Edelson’s lead and expanded class outreach, the world would be just that little bit better off.
