This Firm Is Planning The Ultimate ‘Workcation’ Trip Abroad For Employees

// We’ll be six hours ahead of our clients. That means we’re going to be leaving in the middle of the day. If you’re working a deal, you’re going to be working in the middle of the night.

— Kevin Vela, the managing partner of Vela Wood, explaining just a few of the mechanics behind the firm’s workcation in Lisbon, Portugal, this summer. According to a report from Insider, firm employees will receive $3,000 to help cover airfare and lodging. Any costs for spouses and children will not be covered. The firm expects to remain in Portugal for two to four weeks, and has already secured a coworking space. Vela says those who travel abroad to work may receive reduced bonuses out of fairness to those who are unable to attend the trip, but so far, he’s undecided.
