Top Biglaw Firm Matches Cravath Scale, But Associates Will Have To Wait To See The Money

// Biglaw was all about the holiday merriment late last year, with several firms making major compensation announcements just before Christmas.

What could possibly be better than a salary increase on the Cravath scale? A salary increase on the Cravath scale paired with bonuses! And what could be even better than Cravath scale raises and bonuses? Not having to wait months to receive them! But unfortunately, there’s no such luck at this firm.

We recently learned that Hunton Andrews Kurth — a firm that brought in $804,052,000 gross revenue in 2022, putting it at No. 62 in the most recent Am Law 100 — announced raises and bonuses in line with the Cravath grid. This is what the new compensation scale looks like at the firm:

Hunton’s fiscal year runs from April to March, so eligible associates — those who are meeting performance expectations with regard to their commitment, quality of work, productivity, and overall economic and firm contribution — won’t see their salary increases and bonuses until on or around April 1, 2024.
